Game for Vectrex: Star Ship (Star Trek)

In Star Ship (Star Trek), the player takes on the role of Captain Kirk who guides the Enterprise through hostile space sectors while clearing by attacking Romulan and Klingon ships. It is a simulation of flight seen in the cabin where players must defend themselves from attacking enemies by destroying them and their shots (or dodge or deflect the latter with shields). Players have a limited number of torpedoes and photon shields (represented by lines at the bottom of the screen - firepower is on the left, shield strength on the right - and seen in the overlay); run out of one or both, and players are vulnerable to enemy attack. If a player is hit by an enemy shot, he will lose a life, and when all lives are lost, the game ends.

There are a certain number of enemy ships that must be eliminated from one sector before players can move on to the next. There is no indication of how many enemies are left or where they are in a sector, as players will sometimes have to move randomly until the last enemy ships are found and annihilated.

In addition to taking down all enemy ships, the Enterprise can also be defended by using shields, which is represented by the on-screen cursor getting bigger and then reduced to normal size when activated. However, if incorrectly timed, the Enterprise can still be destroyed, even if the player hitched shields when enemy fire is directed at them. Raising shields at the right time will deflect enemy fire away from the Enterprise.

As the player begins to run out of resources to defend himself, there is also a star base in all sectors (except the Klingon Mothership showdown) with which the player can dock to replenish their shield strength and photon torpedoes (although this only can be done once per sector). The starbase has a revolving door that the player can access using the Power Link feature, which the player has to carefully aim at the door while using Power Link to successfully dock with the base. Meanwhile, the player may be susceptible to enemy attack, although he can still raise his shields to deter enemy fire. Unfortunately, the star base can also be destroyed if the player accidentally fires it. If the starbase is destroyed, the player has already docked with it during one sector, or if the player depletes his supply of photon torpedoes, there is no way to move to the next sector without destroying all enemies, resulting in a life It will have to be lost in order for the firepower and shield strength to be restored with the next remaining life.

Finally, a Klingon mothership also appears during a game, which can only be destroyed by being hit in the bow of the ship while it is on. The mothership possesses both Klingon and Romulan firepower and can be accessed by having the player fly through a black hole located in a sector, which the player must use the power link function by aiming and hooking it in the center from the black hole. To pass to the Mother Ship. If the player is able to defeat the Mother Ship, they will be rewarded with an extra life and then the game will start again in sector one, but on a higher difficulty level.

The starting level for the black hole that appears can be chosen from the main menu; the black hole will appear in sector one in game one, in sector two if the second is chosen, and so on, with eight games / sectors to choose from in total. After the mothership is destroyed and the player traverses all eight sectors, he will enter sector nine, which will take the player to the mothership, and the game will start again in sector one if the player can destroy the ship.

This is the game cartridge only (no box or overlays). All sets are checked before shipment.
